Thrifting success!

Recently, I was able to sneak out for an hour (or two – thanks to my husband!) to go thrift shopping with my Mamma. My mom is a must-have when thrift shopping. She’s like a machine, filing through racks and isles with razor-sharp eyes, ready to grab at the greatest finds. She’s found some wonderful things for my little family, and has helped save us some serious dough on clothes and toys. Plus, I think she greatly enjoys the thrill of the hunt!

At 9:05 am, I arrived at a large thrift store just down the street from my house. It opened at 9:00 am and the place was already buzzing. I was still a little bleary eyed, but my Mamma was wide-awake and going-to-town. When I walked in, she flagged me over to her cart, “Look at these!” Two adorable wool Pottery Barn rugs in a pink paisley – $70 for the set! Seemed a little steep for a thrift shop, but when I got home, I checked the original pricing online – about $400 for the original rugs! Needless to say, I didn’t get the rugs, but I’m always amazed at what you can find! And besides, we were really on a mission to find some Spring wardrobe items for myself.

Wednesdays are “deal” days at this particular thrift shop. Look for the “color-of-the-day”, (yellow today), take 50% off of that item, then, get two other yellow tagged items under $5 for FREE! Now I don’t buy everything at thrift stores, but I’m thinking I might start to. You may, too, when you see what I found. I am not a fashion diva by any means, but I like simple clothes that are versatile and comfortable – and it doesn’t matter where I find them!

Here’s what we found (and these are right out of the plastic shopping bag, so they aren’t washed and ironed yet, but I think they look pretty good!):

1. White linen tank

2. Brand new linen shirt from Eddie Bauer with original tags still on! (Easter outfit?)

3. Tommy Hilfiger dress shirt.

4. Old Navy cotton v-neck – comfy!

5. Old Navy polo dress.

6. Light short-sleeved sweater with pockets (cute with leggings?)

7. Light sweater – not sure of brand, but I like it!

8. GAP stretch dress shirt.

Plus, I got two Eddie Bauer cotton tanks, 2 shirts for William, and a pair of pink Easter shoes for Della – ALL FOR AROUND $40!

Thrifting can take a little extra digging – but it’s worth it when you find treasures like these.:)

Happy Thrifting!
